| Entry #2972 | Question: Hey, I love the show.
Okay, so here\'s the thing, Im Guyanese-American. Im a hindu. I moved to a new place. I moved here a little over a ago, and ever since I did move here, I felt that I had to abandon my culture and religion because people here dont like Indian people. I felt that I had to hide who I am. And I dont want to do that. Please give me advice on what to do. Thanks for your time. | Answer: Hey,
What you're going through is not easy.
You have to start by being proud of who you are. Racism exists because of fear and misunderstanding - not taking the time to understand another culture and just making unfair assumptions about someone based solely on their culture. It's not fair and it's not cool. It's really awful to hear you are experiencing racism right now.
You are of a mixed race and it sounds like you feel you have to hide that. It might be a good idea if you talked to someone in your family about your cultural heritage. See if you can find ways to re-connect with some culture. This may help remind you how important your cultural heritage is. It might also help you to get advice from people older than you - ask them if they have encountered what you are going through. You might be surprised what some older family members may be able to offer you as advice.

| Entry #2971 | | Question: i have a question about anorexia. today i was watching something and it said that once anorexics dont eat for a long time, their bodys like wont let them eat. is this tru, because i am anorexic and i havent eaten for a while | Answer: Hey,
Anorexia is a very serious disorder. When you don't eat, you are starving your body of the basic elements it needs to function.
If you think of your body as a machine, then think of food as fuel. You need to give it fuel to function. Every organ in your body needs food and the nutrients you get from food to do their jobs. When you don't eat, your body kind of goes into shock. It will continue to function the best it can, but if you don't eat for a very long time (or if you eat a very small amount, not enough to maintain a healthy weight) then your body organs will start to shut down and you will put your health and your life in serious danger.
Specifically to your question, we are not doctors and cannot say for sure if what you heard is true.
If you are anorexic it's really important you talk to someone right away about what's going on. You are seriously risking your health - this eating disorder can have life-long affects on your body and your health.
There are a lot of ways to get help, you have to be brave and be willing to talk though. Talk to a trusted adult or friend about what you're going through. It is curable and you can get help. If you're not ready to talk to a parent, call Kids Help Phone for free, confidential, professional advice. Call them any time at 1.800.668.6868.
It would also be a really good idea if you went to a doctor to get checked out. You are a young person and your body is growing and changing every day and it needs food. Get help, talk to someone.

| Entry #2970 | | Question: for a few weeks i have been thinking about killing myself. i mean i have nothing to live for so why not? like, i have friends but they dont really know me. i cant talk to anyone. i lie to the people that care about me. i have to hide everything from them. i always worry my mom will find my diary. and i havent had food in like 5 days. | Answer: Hey,
No matter how down you feel right now, you are important. There are lots of people who care about you and want you to be well. Remember that. Your life is really important.
We all feel down sometimes and for some of us, it lasts longer and feels more intense. What's important is getting through it. If you feel really out of control and so sad that you feel you can't get out then it is really, really important you talk to someone right away. Talk to someone you trust - a friend, a family member or a relative you trust.
If you're not ready to talk to someone you know, start with a call to Kids Help Phone. They are great because they are professionals who really listen and give good advice. Sometimes it's easier starting with a call there because it is totally anonymous (they won't know who you are, where you're from or even your phone number). The call is also free. Call them and talk to them.
