The lead (or first) paragraph of your story grabs the reader's attention through an interesting topic sentence. This paragraph also establishes the place and action.

 

The body of the story should be informative and expand on the topic introduced in the first paragraph. The body can be a few paragraphs in length and well supported by as many as three or more sources. Anything less begins to look like speculation.

The final paragraph of your story should tie all the information together and leave the reader feeling informed about the subject matter.
